Warehouse Drones
Drones have shown great potential in the field of logistics. It is believed that this market will expand by 30 billion dollars by 2027 and an annual rate of around 20%. Drones have been found to be particularly useful in warehouse operations. The latest advancements in drone technology, like visual-based navigation and sensors, allow indoor drone applications. Alongside the development of technological advancements in drones, the major reason is that the number of warehouses is rising because of the rise of global e-commerce. For instance, drones could be utilized for automated inventory inspections and intralogistics. Utilizing drones for these tasks can assist warehouse managers in eliminating tedious and risky tasks.
This white paper outlines 12 instances of indoor drones for warehouses. We distinguish three distinct applications: inventory management, intra-logistics indoors, and inspection and surveillance. The study shows that drones for inventory management offer the most significant potential for warehouses.
In-logistics within the warehouse isn't wholly feasible due to current limitations of technology in terms of power delivery and load. Drones could also be used to inspect and surveillance; however, there is currently little public information about this.
